Everyone is a expert...
I Knew a Man once who Knew a Man who once drove past a workshop that once had a F250 in there with a mechanical problem and the mechanic that worked on it knew a woman who once thought she saw the Loch Ness Monster.
Everyone is a expert......Yes everyone on a daily basis I am confronted with people whom all they want to do is critize and try and show their authority on certain subjects, this is well know on the subject of transport and yes..F250s. Problems Number 1. All the auto trans break down! It seems that some did but not all It appears to have happened on earlier models 2002 more so. I spoke to a man yesterday (oct06) who said these things break down all the time and he had a friend who had his in the workshop after owning it from new after 5 months. I then found out His friend travel's 10000 kms a month and not on bitumen either, Yes it did break down but I believe it was a simple problem that in turn caused a major and to Fords credit (I have no affiliation with them) had promptly rectified it under new car warranty. The point is, they are machines they are not perfect and their applications can be varied and the poor Auto trans maybe the first point of call telling the owner that his driving is hedging on abusive. The little ol man with the 3400kg caravan driving in overdrive wherever he goes can be regarded as abusive. For What I know (and I have not yet seen the loch ness monster.) The auto trans is just as likely to break down as any other make or model in the market . Refer back to the 80 series land cruiser of the mid to early 90s they had problems and not cheap ones at that
Do look especially in the XL models 2001- for ball joints and handbrake. I don't want to sound like Eddie expert here but being responsible for reconditioning many of these these issues come up on a regular basis. Some ball joint don't need to be replaced they can be repacked by mechanics who know what they are doing and of course if they are too far gone replacement may be the only solution. Look out for that loch ness monster and when you see let me know I would love to meet someone who has seen it and not just knows of someone.
